Wilmington, Ohio Plumbing & Drain Services

This city serves as the county seat of Clinton County. Wilmington is also the home of a weather forecast office of the National Weather Service, which serves all of Southwest Ohio in addition to parts of Kentucky and Indiana. Wilmington has a population of 12,444. The city is said to be “the birthplace of the banana split.”

In 1997, it was featured in Time magazine, which described Wilmington as a small town that’s attractive to suburban families. Before that, it was showcased in a publication in 1995 that listed it in “The 100 Best Small Towns in America.”  The city is the home of Wilmington College. It was founded in 1810 with the name Clinton. Later, they changed its name to Wilmington in 1811. In 1828, the village became incorporated. Today, the city is located about an hour away from Columbus, Cincinnati and Dayton. During the mid 1990s, the annual Banana Split Festival was started to celebrate the town’s invention of the famous treat, which they accomplished in 1907.

Each year the city also hosts the Clinton County Corn Festival, which honors the rich agricultural tradition of the county. Located in the business district downtown is the historic Murphy Theatre, which can be seen in the film Lost In Yonkers, part of which was filmed in the city in the early 1990s. In 2016, Wilmington was the setting of Michael Moore’s documentary film, Michael Moore in TrumpLand. The film, which had mixed reviews, was filmed over two nights at the Murphy Theater there. People coming into Wilmington often notice at city’s entrances their slogan, which says “We Honor Our Champions.” This slogan is accompanied by numerous signs highlighting the town’s different athletic accomplishments of both individuals and teams from Wilmington.
