Why We Love To Work
In Tipp City, Ohio

This city is known throughout the area for its outstanding schools, captivating historical homes and family-friendly atmosphere. Currently, Tipp City is located in Miami County. The city has a population of 10,039. Although Tipp City was originally known as Tippecanoe, and later called Tippecanoe City, today the town is simply called Tipp City. Tipp City was founded in 1840, ten miles north of Dayton along the Miami and Erie Canal, which was still developing at that time. The city’s original name comes from U.S. Presidential candidate William Henry Harrison’s nickname, which was “Tippecanoe.” Harrison was said to have earned that nickname as a result of his heroism at the Battle of Tippecanoe, which took place in 1811. Because of the canal, the early city was a popular stopping-off point for boatmen and travelers. The original downtown area was said to have included a large number of bars and a red light district. The now dry canal locks can be seen just East of downtown. As the early city grew in size, it merged with Hyattsville. Today, Tipp City officials say Cowlesville and Ginghamsburg are other villages in Monroe Township that could get annexed at some point down the road. Additionally, Tipp City serves as a “bedroom community” or “commuter town” because of its location north of Dayton. The cultural focus in Tipp City is said to be largely based on community gatherings.
